LEAVING IOWA
The
Comedy about Family Vacations
by Tim Clue & Spike Manton
Leaving Iowa
"is a warm and nostalgic comedy about a middle-aged writer searching for the perfect
spot to scatter his father's ashes," according to the producers. "Along the way,
he relives the summer vacations he spent traveling in the family station wagon as a young
boy in Winterset, Iowa." The production speaks to common hopes and experiences of
anyone who might have taken a road trip with their family. These are people we all know
and love and the story is something that all generations will recognize and appreciate. These are the reasons
this show has been praised by critics and has sold out to audiences across the
Midwest." "Absolutely a Must See for people of all ages- Enchanting!" Chris
Jones of the Chicago Tribune says, "LEAVING IOWAS a trip with genuine
charm". It is guaranteed to have you laughing and remembering the childhood vacations
you tried to forget. The Lansing City Pulse says about LEAVING IOWA
"Leaves you with a smile on your face and a desire to hug your kids!"

DOUBT: A Parable
by
John Patrick Shanley |
 |
| In this brilliant and powerful drama,
Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she
suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students. "All the elements
come invigoratingly together like clockwork in John Patrick Shanleys provocative new
play, DOUBT, a gripping story of suspicion cast on a priests behavior that is less
about scandal than about fascinatingly nuanced questions of moral certainty. Something
rare for this season: a laudable new American play." Variety.
"#1 show
of the year. How splendid it feels to be trusted with such passionate, exquisite ambiguity
unlike anything we have seen from this prolific playwright so far. Blunt yet subtle,
manipulative but full of empathy for all sides, the play is set in 1964 but could not be
more timely. In just ninety fast-moving minutes, Shanley creates four blazingly individual
people. DOUBT is a lean, potent drama
passionate, exquisite, important and
engrossing." NY Newsday.
"A
beautifully balanced drama. Shanley is a writer working at the top of his craft, making
the most of a muted but evocative palette in the pursuit of truths shadows. Here,
for the first time in a long time, is a play that is about something."
Chicago Tribune.
"An
eloquent and provocative investigation of truth and consequences. A gripping mystery,
tightly written." Time Out.

BIG
RIVER, the
musical
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn |
 |
Music and Lyrics by Roger
Miller
Book by William
Hauptman
Adapted from the novel by Mark
TwainA big-hearted American saga of self-discovery and friendship set in the
1840s, Big River is the tale of the irrepressible Huck Finn and Jim, a slave. The
two join forces to embark on an epic journey on a raft down the Mississippi River in
search of freedom. Their exploits on the river are a series of outlandish episodes that
bring them into contact with the some of Twains most colorful characters including
the scalawags King and Duke. As the journey progresses, the friendship between Huck and
Jim deepens as Huck recognizes their common humanity despite their differences in status.
A heart-warming coming of age story, Big River captures the nobility of man and the
spirit of life on the big river. Acclaimed and controversial since its first printing in
1885, Mark Twains The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn captured the
sense of adventure of every young boys dreams. One hundred years later, producer
Rocco Landesman would approach country and pop superstar Roger Miller ("King of the
Road") to write the score for a musical version of the work a hard sell since
Miller had not only never written a musical, he hadnt even seen one. Millers
award-winning music and lyrics are a blend of country, bluegrass, blues, gospel, humor,
and morality that blends perfectly with Twains timeless classic as it sweeps us down
the mighty Mississippi. This jaunty journey provides a brilliantly theatrical
celebration of pure Americana.

PANIC
The
Story Behind The War of the Worlds Broadcast
Book, Music and Lyrics by Stephen Dolginoff |
| You cant imagine the excitement
pulsing through the theatre when we learned that LAMB Theatre was given the nod to
workshop and produce this new musical! Internationally acclaimed Stephen Dolginoffs
PANIC is the behind-the-scenes story of the most famous radio broadcast in history: The
1938 Halloween night rendition of The War of the Worlds by HG Wells as adapted by Orson
Welles and his critically acclaimed, but ratings challenged, Mercury Theatre weekly radio
program on CBS. Welles thirst for fame in Hollywood and massive ego clashes with
producer John Houseman and the rest of the company - together with his refusal to share
credit with War of the Worlds script writer Howard Koch, comes to a head when the
broadcast itself causes a panic throughout the country as many listeners believe that
Earth is truly being invaded by Mars. Was this the intention of Welles all along?
When the truth of the hoax is revealed, he must pull out all the stops to clear his name,
save the Mercury Theatre, and parlay it all into a Hollywood contract. Stephen Dolginoff has
chosen that event as his next foray into musical theatre. Mr. Dolginoffs most recent
musical was the critically acclaimed Drama Desk nominated, THRILL ME; THE LEOPOLD
& LOEB STORY. Mr. Dolginoff resides in New York City but his roots are in the
Mid-West. We are incredibly excited and honored to present THE WORLD PREMIèRE of this new
musical to our audience.
