This play won the 1991 Pulitzer Prize and the 1991 Tony Award for Best Play. The play is set in Yonkers in 1942. We see family relationships unfold as Eddie deposits his two young sons on Grandma Kunitz. doorstep. She is a strong willed matriarch and is already watching over Bella, her daughter. When son Louie shows up, the household takes on a new dynamic.
